My coworker Ashley loves Cuba. She has a favourite resort down there where she knows all of the staff and is treated like royalty. She visits at least once each year with friends or family, and has even made a new group of friends (people who regularly visit the resort and hang out there together) through her Cuban travels.

Each time she flies she tries to capitalize on the best deals by checking out Sunwing, iTravel2000, Sunquest, and all of the other discount travel sites. In May she had the opportunity to travel with Sunwing for the first time.

From the moment the flight touched down, Ashley was ready to relax, unwind, and enjoy her favourite resort. She grabbed her luggage and proceeded to the Sunwing resort bus that would be dropping off all of the travelers. When the bus pulled up at the resort Ashley hopped off and was greeted by the hotel staff, as the bus drove away with her luggage. Ashley shouted after the bus, but it had already left the resort. The Hotel staff checked her in, and got her in contact with the Sunwing representative.

The Sunwing representative explained to her that her bags had been dropped off at a hotel 20 minutes away, and that it was now Ashley's responsibility to collect her luggage. Ashley explained it was the company who was negligent, and that they should be responsible. The representative refused to budge and Ashley was forced to take a 20 minute local taxi by herself to the other resort to retrieve her luggage. Ashley spent her first 3 hours in Cuba searching down her suitcases and arguing instead of enjoying the beach and relaxing, and even had to foot the taxi bill to reclaim her luggage.

You may get wine on the plane, but Sunwing is no champagne vacation.
